Key Considerations for Marine Diesel Engines:

• The required air volume for fuel combustion is approximately 6.1 m³ per kW (4.5 m³ per hp) per hour.
• Intake air speed should not exceed 3 m/s.
• In addition to combustion air, engines require sufficient airflow to dissipate the heat generated during operation.
• The volume of air needed to remove heat is approximately equal to the volume required for fuel combustion.

Vetus ventilation grilles for plenum ventilation are specifically designed to meet these requirements. For example, with two 60 hp engines (totaling 120 hp), we recommend using two ventilation grilles—one for the intake of fuel combustion air and the other for heat dissipation (one on the port side and one on the starboard side).
