The Plastimo 471068 chain is a grade 40 calibrated short-link chain with a diameter of 8mm and a length of 30m. It is galvanized according to the EN ISO 1461 standard, which requires a minimum galvanization thickness of 58 microns. The chain undergoes regular testing in an accelerated seawater environment to ensure a consistent galvanization quality. The galvanization process is engineered with zinc to provide better adhesion and a longer lifetime.
The break load of the Plastimo 471068 chain is 4030 kg, and the safe working load (SWL) is 1000 kg. It is suitable for use with a windlass, and the regular links fit most gypsies. The chain is packaged in a plastic drum.
It is worth noting that in cases where a marina is unusually exposed to galvanic currents, which could lead to chain deterioration, Plastimo recommends using mooring anodes (ref. 38266 & 38267) to protect both the chain and the metallic parts of the boat.
