Performs two important functions: 1) a sturdy, precisely adjustable tiller extension - 2) acts as a steering lock, performing the same function as a wheel lock for steering wheels. When secured in the socket, it holds the tiller in the desired position. A simple turn of the handle is enough to unlock the rod mechanism and allow the selection of a new position, which is re-locked when the handle is released. To use as a traditional extension, simply remove the rod from the socket.
