These gas struts act as pneumatic muscle bundles, commonly used to open and hold doors or hatches in place. The gas spring operates without blockage by utilizing the pressure of compressed nitrogen gas inside a tube. This pressure difference between the tube and the atmosphere provides the extension force. The gas moves through a self-cleaning valve in the piston rod, which pushes the rod outward. Inside each tube, a small amount of oil is included to provide lubrication and damping.
